Blue Sky Cashmere ships from our own mill in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Nothing on this website is sold directly — every order begins as an enquiry — so the freight arrangements for any order are set in the agreement signed for that order. This page describes how we work and what we provide with a shipment; it does not replace what is written into a contract.

Terms of delivery

We quote Ex Works (EXW) Ulaanbaatar. The buyer, or the buyer's nominated freight forwarder, takes custody of the goods at our facility and arranges carriage, insurance, export handling and import clearance from that point. Freight and duty therefore sit outside the unit price.

Risk passes to the buyer when the goods are made available for collection at our facility. If a different arrangement is needed for a particular order, raise it at the quotation stage.

Freight mode

Mongolia is landlocked, so shipments move by air freight. Overland routes can be used where they suit a consignment. We do not ship by sea, and sea-only Incoterms — FOB, CFR and CIF — cannot apply to goods leaving a landlocked origin.

We do not publish transit times. They depend on the destination, the size of the consignment and the carrier, and they are confirmed per shipment rather than promised in advance.

Origin and classification

All goods originate at our mill in Ulaanbaatar and the country of origin on the commercial invoice reads Mongolia. Whether that attracts preferential tariff treatment in your market is for your customs broker to confirm — we do not advise on tariff eligibility.

Cashmere goods generally fall under HS headings 5102 (raw fibre), 5108 (yarn), 5111 and 5112 (woven fabric) and 6110 (knitted sweaters and similar), with the exact classification depending on construction. These are indicative; classification at import is your broker's determination.

  • Commercial invoice
  • Packing list referencing your order
  • Certificate of origin, on request
  • Composition declaration, on request
  • HS-coded item descriptions to assist classification
  • Per-lot and per-stage records, including lab and quality-control results, on request

Where a destination requires additional certification, tell us at the quotation stage so it can be arranged before dispatch.

Packing

Orders are packed by hand at our mill. Paper-based packaging comes from responsibly sourced suppliers as standard. Client-branded packaging — boxes, tissue, dust bags, labels and hangtags — is coordinated through vetted Ulaanbaatar suppliers we introduce you to, because we do not manufacture packaging ourselves, and is invoiced separately.

Timing

Production lead times are published on the pages for each product family and run from your approval of the sample, not from the date of enquiry. June to October is our peak season and lead times extend through it; by how much depends on the quantity ordered, so it is discussed against your actual volumes rather than published as a figure.

If a shipment is going to be late for a reason on our side, we tell you as soon as we know, with a revised date. The remedies for delay are set in your agreement.

Destinations we cannot serve

We do not ship to countries subject to comprehensive trade sanctions administered by the UN Security Council, the United States Department of the Treasury (OFAC) or the European Union. Where local import of cashmere or wool requires a licence, obtaining it is the buyer's responsibility and it must be in place before dispatch.
