Most cashmere mills require 500 kg minimums for custom colour. Steppe Signature supports brands developing their own colour identity with flexible minimums and rapid lab-dip turnaround — so you can develop a signature palette without committing to volumes you don’t need.
What it is
Custom colour at brand-builder scale
A signature colour is a brand asset. It shouldn’t require you to commit to half a tonne of yarn before knowing if the dye matches your Pantone reference, how it reads on different counts, or how it ages.
Steppe Signature is our colour development lane for brand partners — 100 kg custom-colour minimums, in-house lab dips within 2–3 weeks, formulas archived under your account for consistency across future orders. Approved colours can be reserved exclusively for your programme, so they’re never offered to competing brands.
How it works
From brief to bulk

Colour brief
Send a Pantone TCX or TPX reference, a physical swatch, or a mood board. Our team returns a feasibility note within 48 hours with a lab-dip schedule and per-kg cost estimate for the custom dyeing.

Lab dip development
Our in-house dye lab produces 2–3 variations on actual cashmere. You review and approve — or request iterations. Typical development cycle is 2–3 weeks per round.

Approval + archive
Approved formulas are archived under your account. Every future re-order of that colour uses the same formula — no drift between seasons, no re-development fees.

Production dyeing
Approved formulas are used for your bulk run. If you reserve the colour (optional add-on), it stays exclusive to your programme and won’t be offered to other brands.
