Most of what we make leaves as finished garments. But cloth is sold on its own, and the terms are different enough from knitwear to be worth setting out separately.
The headline: fabric ships immediately from stock, or takes about a month to produce, at a minimum of 50 m for a produced colour.
What we make
Three categories:
- Knitted fabrics — knitted cloth by the piece rather than knitted-to-shape garment panels
- Woven fabrics — woven cloth for tailoring and cut-and-sew
- Upholstery-grade — heavier constructions for interiors
All three are available in cashmere, sheep wool, camel, yak, and custom blends.
The minimum is metres, not kilograms
This is the part that catches buyers who have already read our knitwear terms.
Knitted product is constrained by the spinning line, so its minimum is 100 kg of yarn. Woven product is constrained by the loom, so its minimum is 50 m of fabric. Different machine, different unit.
The two-tier structure is the same as everywhere else:
- If we hold the cloth — you can order from as little as 10 pieces of a finished woven garment, or buy the fabric directly from stock
- If the cloth must be produced — 50 m minimum
Yarn bought on its own remains 100 kg per colour, which is the figure to use if you intend to weave elsewhere.
Scarves sit on the line
Worth flagging because it is the most common source of confusion in a quotation: scarves exist in both constructions, and the minimum follows the construction, not the product category.
- Woven scarves follow the 50 m fabric run
- Knitted scarves follow the 100 kg yarn batch
So two scarves that look comparable on a moodboard can carry entirely different minimums. Settle the construction before you plan the quantity.
The same logic applies to garments: coats and tailored dress-pant trousers are woven and follow the fabric model, while knitted trousers sit with the knitwear.
Lead times
Fabric is the fastest thing we ship.
- From stock — ships immediately
- Produced — about a month
- Blends — add one to two weeks; blended yarn is never stocked and is made to order every time
- Custom colour — add 10 days
As with everything, June to October is peak season and lead times extend through it.
Colour
The standard card runs to 81 colourways, applying to fibres that scour to near-white — cashmere, sheep wool and our blends.
If you are specifying cloth in camel or yak, read the fibre guide first. Camel reaches the full card via a bleaching step quoted with the colour; yak is naturally brown and runs to seven colourways only — four natural browns plus Black, Dark Navy and Charcoal.
Custom Pantone matching is available via lab dip — included on a production order, where we iterate until the colour is approved; a standalone lab dip is $75 per shade — and a minimum of 100 kg per colour where yarn has to be produced for it.
Sampling cloth
A 10 × 10 cm swatch is $20, shipping immediately from stock, with 10 days added for a custom colour. Swatches are available across gauges and structures, so you can compare constructions directly rather than inferring from a photograph.
For fabric buyers this is the highest-value sample we offer. Cloth is judged by hand, drape and recovery — none of which survive a screen — and $20 to settle a construction question before committing to 50 m is an easy trade.
All sample fees are credited back in full against a production order above our 100 kg minimum.
Buying cloth to cut elsewhere
Plenty of our fabric clients cut and sew in their own facilities. A few things that matter in that arrangement:
- Composition declarations are provided, backed by accredited laboratory testing of composition and blend ratio — which importing authorities will ask you to evidence.
- Ex Works Ulaanbaatar is the default Incoterm, and Mongolia is landlocked, so air freight is the route and FOB and CIF do not apply.
- Test data per lot is available on request, including yarn count and twist, and colourfastness — useful if your own QC works to a specification.
What to send us
For an accurate fabric quotation: composition, construction, target weight, width if it matters to your cutting, colour, and quantity in metres. If you have a reference cloth, send it — matching a physical sample is faster than resolving a written specification.
